This was the second installment of our “Living With…” project. Fibromyalgia is often misunderstood. We aimed to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding it.
We created a performance installation at the Old Fire Station in Carlisle. The script consisted entirely of verbatim text. Actors recited the real words of fibromyalgia sufferers.
The piece tackled the symptoms and the stigma head-on. It allowed the audience to hear the private pain of the condition spoken aloud. This validation was vital for the community of sufferers and eye-opening for the general public.
