In 2015, a “once-in-a-hundred-year event” happened for the second time in a decade. The Carlisle Floods decimated homes and infrastructure. Two people lost their lives. The city was in shock.
WordForWord wanted to tell the story of the floods properly. We used the words of Carlisle and Cumbria citizens. “Rain Will Be Heavy” was a multimedia, verbatim performance.
We combined real words from interviewees with news broadcasts. The piece captured the devastation but also the resilience of the community. It stood as a historical record of a defining moment for our city.
